Old Spitalfields Market, Tower Bridge and Random Wanderings
Today we decided to make it a little lighter by just checking out Old Spitalfields Market, riding around on the buses and walking over the Tower Bridge.
We found our way to Old Spitalfields Market and walked around all the vendors. They were selling a lot of clothes, bags, and jewelry. There were tons of food stands selling about anything we could want to eat. Markets are definitely a happening place to be! There has been a market on this place for 350 years.

After we had enough of the market, we hopped on the tube and rode to Tower Hill station. This station comes out right near the Tower of London, so we stopped to take a few pictures of the outside.

We then walked on to the river so we could admire Tower Bridge and its beautiful structures that are so iconic to the River Thames.

We could see The Shard from this side of the river as well. The Shard stands 95 stories tall and is the 5th tallest building in Europe.

Naturally, we had to walk across the Thames on the Tower Bridge.

After getting to the other side, we found a double-decker bus to ride and take in the views of the city from the top deck.
Dave read that we could visit King’s Cross station and find Platform 9 3/4 from Harry Potter, so we headed in that direction next.

Once we finally found the station and the platform, we both decided it wasn’t worth standing in the line to take our picture with the luggage props.
By this time, both of us had had enough of the cold day, so we made it back to our hotel’s neighborhood.
We grabbed an early supper at Aubaine, a French restaurant, since we hadn’t eaten anything since our breakfast this morning. I ordered a Croque Monsieur, a type of grilled ham and cheese sandwich, and Dave had lobster eggs benedict. We basically had the restaurant to ourselves since we were eating at 4:00.

To top off that meal, we walked to a little gelato shop called Amorino. They scooped the gelato into my cone in the shape of a pretty flower.

Dave ordered some sort of waffle special that came with three scoops of gelato and three dollops of whipped cream. It looked like a whole other meal in itself, but he managed to eat it all!!

Back to the hotel it was to warm up with a cup of hot tea. We put on another 8 1/2 miles of walking today!
